Fair Weather Friends

The majority of us have fri halts, the friends we have known since childhood, the friends we would do anything for the friend that would do anything for us. Most of us have friends that are for specific situations, the friends we party with, the friend who leave help us paint our house the friend we can call at two in the morning because we just got dumped. Our lives might non be complete without our friends. I would bet money, large sums in fact that we all have at least one graceful w polish offher friend. We can always count on the pleasure ground run friend to be right by our aspect at the best of times. When we go on that first date, and it ends up being a double date for security purposes we can count on our fair weather friend being there showing their full support. When we have an extra ticket to whatever sporting event it whitethorn be, we desire non look any further than our fair weather friend. Who will be the first to arrive at our house on Super bowl sunshine or game seven of the NBA playoffs? Our trustworthy fair weather friend of course When we need a friend that will drink the most drinks, and eat the most food at our social events, we can just call our fair weather friend. If good times are to be had, our fair weather friend will not disappoint us. While our true friends will be there through thick and thin, our fair weather friend will avoid us like a plague in times of crisis. Our true friends will give us that shoulder to cry on, they will regulate us the truth whether it hurts our feelings or not.Our fair weather friend will not show up until there is fun to be had. It is probably rock-steady to say that a good number of our real friends are mutual friends we might notice that no one else in our circle really associates with our fair weather friend unless we are involved. When we encounter the occasional financial hardship, our trustworthy fair weather friend is not ever able to help, however if they need some money we may the firs t person they ask. If there is any situation, of any importance, we should not call our fair weather friend. They always have reasons wherefore they cannot help us at this particular time, but they will be there for us the next time. 3 As time goes on we may notice ourselves putting more and more distance between us and our fair weather friend. We start to see them for the opportunist that that they are, and, we may find that using up time around them now requires a concentrated effort on our part. From time to time we may still invite them along for some many-sided event, because after all they do know how to have fun. When we are bored and just need someone to have idle chit-chat with there is a vista that they can still get a call. But, if there is a situation of any real consequence that requires a real friend, we will find ourselves scrolling last(prenominal) their name in the address book of our cell phone. At some point and time in the relationship, our fair weather friend will end up like that one toy that was our favorite as a child they will be put on the shelf. We will give up the flashing lights and amusing sounds for something that is truly engaging. The object that once entertained our shallow senses will be replaced by one that satisfies needs that are more in depth. Even though we will call upon our fair weather friend less and less, when they have an opportunity to use us to their advantage, they will continue to undertake us out without hesitation. Because even if they feel the relationship changing, they will not want to give up their true friend, the one they could count on to be there through thick and thin the one they could always borrow money from and take their time paying it back. The one their life would not be complete without. The fair weather friend has a very short shelf life they often wonder why they cannot keep friends. They do not realize that a friendship is a two way street. They wonder why, with them being such a good fri end, that their calls are no chronic answered, why their messages are no longer returned. They can always find fault with the other person to explain why this always happens to them. What they cannot, and will not ever understand, is why they always end up with fair weather friends.

New paradigms for health care delivery

Changes occurring in Health c are delivery and Medicine are the result of social, economical, technological, scientific forces that sport evolved in the 21st century. Among the most significant changes are shift in disease patterns, advanced technology, increase consumer expectations and high costs of health boot. These factors have redefined checkup practices to fit into the changing health delivery system. many an(prenominal) health care professionals have come to the conclusion and belief that they will be compelled to explore new paradigms for health care delivery in the future like electronic medical phonograph recording keeping, telemedicine, computer- behindd nosology and health monitoring to keep pace with the changing scenario. This is due to the accountability of the medical profession forthwith and changing disease patterns. Doctors are under increasing pressure to keep up to date and to base their decisions much firmly on evidences as opposed to anecdotal informat ion of the past. Patients are much more informed than they were 10 years ago. No doctor can tell a patient what to do without being questioned today. Further, with the advent of concepts like informed consent and advance directives, much(prenominal) scientific changes gain relevance.ELEMENTS OF THE youthful PARADIGMThe delectation of electronic documentation is becoming increasingly prevalent in terms of convenience. The field of study Academy of Sciences report states that the US health care industry spent between $10 and $15 billion on information technology in 1996. Much of this expenditure is attributed to creating electronic records systems and converting conventionally stored data to electronic formats. There are many software programs specially developed for electronic record keeping. This includes Doctors retainer, an advanced Electronic checkup bear witnesss (EMR) System with Integrated Appointment Scheduling Billing, Prescription Writer, Transcription Module, chron icle Management and Workflow Management built to meet HIPAA standards. Practice Partner Patient Records is an award winning electronic medical records (EMR) system, allowing practices to store and retrieve patient charts electronically. There are innumerable such mark medical record softwares available today. The standards in practice for EMR include ASTM International Continuity of Care Record , ANSI X12 (EDI) CEN , EN13606, HISA, DICOM , HL7 ,ISO and openEHR . (Ringold et.al.,2000).The American Medical Association and 13 other medical groups representing 500,000 physicians have signaled their intention to go electronic with the AMA formed Physicians Electronic Health Record Coalition to recommend affordable, standards-based technology to their constituents. President Bush has withal promoted a nationwide computerized medical records system in a recent visit to a childrens infirmary at Vanderbilt University.Scientific innovations have found a niche in complicated medical procedu res as well. A recent study successfully has evaluated a bar code patient identification system, which involves a hand-held computer for sample collection and for compatibility testing administration of blood. (Turner et.al, 2003).A recent research phrase (Sandler et.al, 2000) reports of a solid phase and micro titer plate hemagglutination method for pre transfusion compatibility tests. This I-TRAC is an automated bring of blood matching with improved serological sensitivity and standardized compatibility testing supporting electronic record keeping and linking to a bar code identification system. San Raffale Hospital in Milan, Italy, has recently collaborated with Intel and CISCO systems to use wireless-enabled infrastructures and Radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies. The system uses RFID-radio frequency identification technology to address the sources of human and systems shift in blood transfusion supply chain. This pilot programme has been implemented at the 1,10 0 bed San Raffale infirmary where more than 15000 blood transfusions are done every year. The CAT (Computer Aided Tomography) is yet another innovation in medicine which combines the X-ray technology with computer signal processing to generate images of tissues of the body obscured by other organs.Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a common technique apply to scan morbid or physiological status of living tissues. Much is known about the computer aided nonstop ECG monitoring with a play back facility for assessing the cardiac status of the patient. Today we are in a wonderful situation where we will be able to develop a medicine based on computer analysis skipping a few phases of clinical testing.PERSPECTIVES ON THE PARADIGM reposition Thus, scientific innovations are part of the evolutionary process of the medical science. The basic instrument of a physician, the Stethoscope, the Sphygmomanometer used for monitoring the patient blood pressure, the Catheter, Radiotherapy, Chem otherapy, the EEG, ECG, EMG, Echocardiogram, Ultrasonic scan, to name a few were nothing but such scientific innovations integrated into the field of medicine in the nineteenth and twentieth century. Thus, Computer based telemedicine, medical record system, and diagnostic procedures are scientific innovations of the twenty-first century. Hence, it is nothing but a natural and honourable obligation of the health care sector to integrate them into the field of medicine. Changes in financial incentives and health care delivery structures are producing new threats to health care quality (A.Brennan, 1991). The retributive measures are cumbersome and expensive. Hence, on that point is a need for more accountable health delivery system, which will enable application of forward-looking scientific approaches to quality health care system. In this context, quality of the medical care depends on packaging of quality medical care by managed care organizations.REFERENCEBrennan, T, et.al, Inci dence of adverse events and negligence in hospitalized patients the results of the Harvard Medical Practice Study, New England Journal of Medicine 324 370-76, 1991. Management Essay

1) What forces for kind argon evident at the Oconomo plant? (5)The forces for budge that argon evident at the Oconomo plant are the callenges dealing with high labor cost. As a result Lamprey is deciding to lower wages from $16 to $1.60 per hour. Also the Federal and Oconomo are disagreeing with this fresh change taking place with the wages.2) Which of the forces in force-field analysis do you think would be more effectual than the other in this situation?Between the two forces I think the Driving Force would be more powerful than the other in this situation. The greatest force that drives the guild to expect change is that its operating at a high cost and instead of giving returns its giving bulge loses. As a result, the aim of the company is to make changes so that it can appreciate pro turmoils in the future. In additional to there being high cost the thing that needs to be still is that in order for the company to meet its operations it must realize some of the returns fr om what it has invested.Having invested in the company the managers and shareholders should expect that the company is going to provide sufficient returns which will be shared and at the alike(p) judgment of conviction enable the company to stay in the market. in that respect also exist the risks of the competitors who are in the market receivedly. For the company to make it in the market, it must change its working conditions so that they fit with the current market situation.Another problem is the workers point of refusing to cooperate. The company is planning to reduce the amount of pay its going to provide to its workers with a significant drop. This is a great problem which workers are not wide awake to accept the desired change of the company. Another force for change is that competitors are in the market and of latish they have threatened the company from the services and products that they are providing to the society. Quality is one thing that the company should tonu s at so as to retain its market segment else the upcoming companies will outperform the company.3) What is the direct type of change needed changing things or changing the great deal and culture? The primary change that is appropriate at the moment is changing the people and their culture. The precedent as to why changing people and culture is of importance to the company is that having changed people all other things will work accordingly. Peoples culture is of importance in the way the company operates simply because if the culture or people fit in the objectives of the company then all other things will be in place. People are the main tar drop dead of any given business set up. This means that in changing anything that is in respect to the companys operations then the people and their culture is the initial thing that should be taken into consideration. Another thing is that having changed peoples perception competitors will have no check out because you would have drove the attentions of the market to your operations.4) What do you think is the underlying cause of the union leaders granting immunity to change?Union leaders are resistant to change due to a single reason which the company is reluctant to handle. The reason as to the resistance is that Oconomo plant has plans to provide workers with less wages which they smell they cant live within that bud acquire. Looking at some companies which are emerging, union leaders are not ready to accept the change simply because those companies are giving out wages which are high and the quality of services and products that they have is almost outdoing the one Oconomo plant is providing. Jim has a hard time of convincing union leaders on what should be done. What he is supposed to do is to give union leaders the risk behind getting a new job if they lose the one they have. There are so many people in the town who are looking for job. Also, he should persuade them to work as the negotiation is being carrie d out for a better change. There are benefits that workers get from the company and if they resign, such as medical and insurance benefits, then they will no longer get until they get another job.

Maceda and Recto Law Essay

These twain laws ar relevant and are very often the issue of legion(predicate) court cases. Both laws govern the change of holding by inductions. The Recto Law, which forms part of the civilised Code, covers episode gross revenue of personal property while the Maceda Law governs installment gross sales of trustworthy property. The Recto LawThe Recto Law comprises Articles 1484 to 1486 of the Civil Code. It was added to the Civil Code to prevent abuses in the foreclosure of chattel mortgages, such(prenominal) as when mortgagee-creditors foreclosed mortgaged property, bought them at a low price (on purpose,) then prosecuted the mortgagor-debtors to recover the deficiencies. In the event a vendee of personal property defaults by failing to pay both or more of the agreed installments, the seller mint do whatsoever of the next1.) Demand that the purchaser pay (a.k.a. specific performance)2.) Cancel or rescind the sale3.) Foreclose the mortgage on the property bought (if thith er ever was a chattel mortgage)Regarding no. 3, this happens when a person takes a loan to buy something and he mortgages the thing he bought to ensure the creditor that he get out pay the loan. Remember If you choose star remedy, you cant choose the others. These remedies, believe it or not, are as well available to the purchaser. You also cant use all or any of them at the same time. The Recto Law also wont apply to a straight sale (i.e. a sale where there is a downpayment and the balance is payable in the future in a hit payment only.) The seller can also assign his credit to another person, making that person the unsanded creditor. If the purchaser refuses to crepuscle the items to the seller, he becomes a perverse buyer-mortgagor. When that happens, the seller can recover expenses and attorneys fees. The Recto Law also covers leases with the option to purchase. The Maceda LawThe Maceda Law, RA 6552, is the real estate equivalent of the Recto Law. Like the Recto Law, it al so covers financing of sales of real property (which is why mortgages also come in.) It doesnt apply, however, to the following sales1.) Industrial lots2.) Commercial buildings and lots3.) Lands beneath the CARP LawDepending on when the buyer defaults, there are two (2) possible scenarios if the buyer paid at least two (2) long time installments and if the buyer paid less than 2 yrs installments. If the buyer paid less than 2 years installments and defaults, he is given a grace full point of sixty (60) days starting from the date of his last installment to resume paying. This period can be increased by the seller. If later on the grace period the buyer still cant pay, the seller must make a notarial demand to activate the sale. The cancellation becomes potent thirty (30) days after the buyer was notified. So its possible that the buyer could be notified two months after the 60-day period and then the 30-day period will begin. If the buyer paid at least two years installments, the buyer can pay the unpaid balance without interest. The grace period is computed at one (1) month per year of installment payments. It also begins from the time the buyer paid his last installment. The grace period can be used only once each five (5) years of the sales conveys life -including its extensions. So its possible to have a grace period of a year if the buyer had beenpaying his installments faithfully for 12 years. Once the buyer chooses to use the grace period, he cant get it again until another five years are over.If the seller wants to cancel the sale, he has to refund the buyer of 50% of the actual payments. If the buyer paid more than five years installments another 5% for every year is to be added to the refund, but only up to 90% of the centre payments made. The payments mentioned here include the downpayment, options and deposits. The refund is made in this way if the buyer paid more 2 to 5 years installments, he can get back 50% of the cash surrender value. If he paid for more than 5 years, he can get the 50% plus 5% per year up to 90%.The buyer is also allowed to make advanced payments, or even the full price, without interest. He can also assign his rights to another person, making that person the new buyer, but he can only do that with a notarial deed of sale assignment. The Maceda Law cannot be used by a real estate developer (see here.) It also cannot be used by the highest bidder in foreclosure proceedings.REPUBLIC ACT no 6552REALTY INSTALLMENT BUYER PROTECTION ACTAN ACT TO PROVIDE PROTECTION TO BUYERS OF REAL land ON INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS Section 1. In the first source, Reinfried and colleagues argue that it is difficult changing students terrene ideas of the greenhouse effect. The challenge that environmental education face is creating of instructional setting aimed to foster students conceptual understanding of the concept of the greenhouse effect. In facilitating students conceptual development regarding the greenhouse effect, it is critical to bearing learning materials that promote active cognitive learning and focused on achieving deep understanding of the concept. Reinfried et al., present in the article, a developed learning material based on the theory of understanding and reasoning. They compared the competency of th e design with standard learning materials by using pre-, post and follow-up test. In examining the students understanding and knowledge acquisition over the three measurement test, Reinfried et al., used both qualitative and numerical methods. The study outcome demonstrated that the group instructed according to the design focused on in-depth learning had break in knowledge gains and retention compared to the group taught using standard learning materials. The strength of the article, therefore, is that it provides an instructional design that engages learners in high cognitive activities, which enhance deep conceptual understanding of the abstract and complex concept of the greenhouse effect. However, the article has a weakness in presenting a comparative study conducted for a long a duration of time because conceptual changes require much time to develop. In the second source, Ogden et al., points that the extent of climate change affects human health in a
